Lupus Foundation - General Appeal

Lupus is a chronic, incurable, potentially fatal auto-immune disease that affects over 5 million world-wide. Lupus symptoms can virtually cover the entire medical journal primarily attacking the joints, skin, kidneys, lungs, heart, blood vessels and nervous system with no 'two' lupus patients alike. The course of the disease is unpredictable, with periods of illness known as 'FLARES' and symptom-free periods as 'REMISSION'. Lupus is also known as the 'Great Imitator' as it often mimics or is mistaken for other conditions such as Strokes (Aneurysm), Heart Attacks, Arthritis, Schizophrenia, Epilepsy, Meningitis, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Myelitis, Nephritis, Serositis, Pleurisy, Lyme's Disease and even Depression, making it one of the most dangerous and baffling diseases around. Unfortunately, medical knowledge with the severe form of lupus is extremely lacking, especially with central nervous system (brain & spine). Many will die without even knowing and the lucky ones will spend a life time juggling the condition, with most likely a few hospital admissions.

Lupus Foundation helps to educate and support people with lupus, their families, carers and the general public in all States. We also create awareness and continue to research and support research with the ultimate goal of one day finding a cure for lupus or better treatment.

All our services are FREE of charge; hence, we rely heavily on the kindness of others to donate as we receive no state or federal funding.
