Mahboba's Promise is non-profit organisation dedicated through action to restoring faith in the future for the people of Afghanistan. Driven by the vision of one Australian woman, Mahboba Rawi, a former refugee from Afghanistan the organisation builds and runs orphanages, schools and clinics and helps to feed, clothe and educate hundreds of Afghan widows and orphans. The work of Mahboba's Promise brings hope to people ravaged by years of war.
Mahboba's Promise started work in Afghanistan in 2002. In the beginning the need for basic welfare services was paramount, however by 2008, 70% of Mahboba's Promise work in Afghanistan was in development projects, education, vocational training and securing clean water for communities.
Our projects are geared toward sustainability and many that we instigated are now running independently or with the help of Government. In this way we can keep starting more projects and helping more people. We have some permanent projects such as the Hope House centres and the Permaculture Farm while many training skills are conducted on a needs basis and depend upon availability of the funds.
Mahboba's Promise works across a number of sectors including education, agriculture, employment and health. Our continuing projects fit into three categories: Child and Youth Development, Community Projects and Women's Empowerment.
