The world is in a state of unrest that has not been seen for decades. The Middle-East in particular, is a major source of human suffering. We have not seen people forced from their homes at these levels since World War Two.

With such misery, across so many countries, it is hard to know where we can help: Where do we start? The difficulty is compounded by the shifting focus of media attention.

It is unfortunate that Afghanistan needs your help as much as ever.

Mahboba has recently returned from several months stay in her country of birth. For her it is heartbreaking to see the country seemingly going backwards in its development. Corruption, economic instability, poverty, drug dependence as well as the continued violence, all conspire to put a drag on Afghanistan.

At Mahboba's Promise we believe that we can fight these challenges, by building stronger, more resilient communities. Communities that start with ensuring food security, education, including that of girls, and training members to have skills that will allow them independent livelihoods.
