Meningitis and meningococcal can kill within 24 hours if left untreated. The symptoms are similar to getting the flu.

Meningitis is an infection of the lining of the brain. Meningitis can kill very fast, if you don't see a doctor urgently. It is important to know the signs and get help straight away. Anyone can get meningitis at any time and any age.

Why are we collecting funds?

Meningitis Centre Australia is a not for profit organisation that works with survivors, carers, health professionals, government and the public to reduce the number of cases in the Australian community. We need funds to help continue the work we do by to inform government leaders and raise awareness of the disease throughout Australia.

What we do to help

Meningitis Centre Australia is committed to:

• Raising the awareness of meningococcal and meningitis
• Increasing the rates of vaccination - reducing death and disability
• Advocating for meningococcal vaccinations through the National Immunisation Plan.
• Educating the community on the disease and the signs and symptoms.
