Mental Health First Aid International is a purpose-driven, Australian based provider of mental health first aid education across Australia and globally.
Approximately 20% of Australian adults experience a common mental illness each year, and these people come from diverse backgrounds, live in every community, attend local schools, are employed in every workplace and are at different ages and stages of life.
Many people feel uncomfortable and unprepared when thinking about starting a mental health conversation with someone they are concerned about. Understanding how to talk about mental health and having the confidence and knowledge to help someone in need are important skills that any person in the community can learn.
Developed in 2000, the Mental Health First Aid Program equips community members with the knowledge and mental health first aid skills to confidently provide support to someone experiencing a mental health problem.
The Mental Health First Aid Program has been thoroughly evaluated and has evolved into a global movement, with over 4 million people worldwide trained, including over 900,000 Australians.
With your support, Mental Health First Aid International can continue to develop the Mental Health First Aid Program and increase its impact and reach across Australia and globally.
Together, we can work towards a world where everyone has the first aid skills to support people with mental health problems.
