Mountain Writers’ Festival returns to the Macedon Ranges in 2026, celebrating the enduring theme ‘Nature. Place. Story,’ from Friday 13-Sunday 15 November. Through conversations, workshops, performances and immersive events, the festival brings together readers, writers, artists and thinkers for a weekend of stories shaped by nature, place and community.

Set on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country at the foot of Geboor (Mount Macedon), Mountain offers a literary festival experience unlike any other in Victoria. Audiences are invited to engage with ideas and story in one of the state's most distinctive natural landscapes.

Founded by Macedon Ranges locals, Mountain celebrates stories that deepen our relationship with place. The festival brings acclaimed Australian writers into conversation with regional voices, creating meaningful exchange between local communities and the national literary sector.
