For many neurodivergent young people, sport is more than competition.
It is confidence.
It is connection.
It is belonging.
Three dedicated riders from Queensland have earned the opportunity to represent their state at the 2026 Special Olympics National Games in Melbourne — a milestone achieved through years of hard work, courage, training, and perseverance.
For these riders, equestrian sport has become a pathway to growth far beyond the arena. Through horses, they have developed emotional regulation, resilience, communication skills, independence, routine, and self-belief. The stable and riding environment provides structure, purpose, and a place where they are valued for their strengths.
Attending the National Games is not simply about winning ribbons. It is about participation, inclusion, achievement, and being recognised as capable athletes within their community.
However, reaching this opportunity comes with significant financial costs, including:
- Travel and accommodation
- Competition fees
- Uniforms and equipment
- Coaching and preparation
- Training and support costs
Many families supporting neurodivergent young people already face ongoing financial and emotional pressures. Community support can make the difference between these riders attending the Games — or missing out on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Your donation directly helps these athletes step onto the national stage with confidence and pride.
By supporting this cause, you are not only helping three riders compete — you are helping create visibility, inclusion, and opportunity for neurodivergent young people in sport and in the wider community.
Every contribution becomes part of their journey.
Together, we can help these riders represent Queensland with heart, courage, and possibility.
