The creative arts are the glue of our community. In particular, children’s theatre brings together people from all different walks of life, regardless of age or background.
For 50 years and three generations now, we have been creating children's theatre performed by young people. In fact, some of our earliest audience members are now grandparents to some of our youngest and brightest students.
Through the programs, young people are involved in: acting, singing, puppetry, physical theatre, technical theatre, and creative mentorships under the direction of professional theatre artists. Marian Street Theatre for Young People also runs classes and provides a place for lifelong friendships to blossom and create the basis for an incredible support network, that sees our students through some their most transformative years.
However, to give young people the support they deserve, we need to engage and make partnerships with artists and educators of the highest quality. Quality costs money. Therefore we survive on the generous support of individuals like you.
The support of our donors helps maintain an accessible organisation which fosters young people’s creative expression and educates Australia’s brightest artists. We also want to keep our ticket prices and class fees affordable so that price is not a barrier to families in our community. Through you, children and young people can and will have access to art that is age appropriate, challenging and fun and serves their emotional, artistic and educational needs.
Why?
Because voice – young people need a safe space to develop their expressive and creative voices. Young people look to a company that believes in them, values their ideas and aspires to produce the highest quality work.
Because tribe – young people want and need a safe place to fit in, to find their feet, and their place in the world.
Because creativity – young people need a place to create, make and experiment.
Because art – young people deserve access to the highest quality art, artists, experience and process.
Because imagination – young people deserve a place to imagine and reimagine the world they live in.
Because spirit – because MSTYP engenders and emboldens the spirit of young people.
MSTYP is a not-for-profit organisation that relies heavily on the support from our local community, businesses and people just like you, so that we can continue to provide for young people in the community.
