The National Centre of Indigenous Excellence (NCIE) is a community-led organisation based in Redfern, dedicated to creating lasting opportunities and positive futures for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through programs focused on culture, health, education, and community, NCIE provides a safe and inclusive space where individuals and families can grow, connect, and thrive.
One of our most powerful initiatives is the Young, Fit & Deadly (YFD) program—a culturally grounded program that supports children to build confidence, emotional strength, and positive routines. By providing a safe, nurturing environment, YFD helps young people develop critical life skills, improve their physical and emotional wellbeing, and foster meaningful social connections. Parents regularly share the incredible transformations they see in their children, from better emotional regulation to stronger communication and greater self-belief.
Beyond the children, the program is also making a real difference in the lives of families. By offering consistent and caring support, YFD allows parents and carers the opportunity to participate in employment, study, and community life, while easing the pressures of alternative care arrangements. Your donation directly supports this vital work—helping to break cycles of intergenerational trauma and build stronger, more resilient futures for Indigenous children, families, and communities.

The National Centre of Indigenous Excellence (NCIE) acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which the Centre is located, the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. We honour and celebrate their Elders and the Elders of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nations past and present.
