About this cause

Nerrena Tarwin Valley Landcare group covers the Leongatha, Koonwarra, Buffalo area with the feature being the Tarwin River and its two branches that run through it.

We developed the Black Spur Creek Wetlands project in cooperation with CMA and VicRoads when the South Gippsland Highway was realigned in Koonwarra. This project is ongoing and in 2026-27 we will plant some 20,000 trees in this area with the Foundation for National Parks and Wildlife.

This is in addition to 5,800 trees planted near Koonwarra in 2026 with funding from Victorian Land Grants.

Another ongoing project is the restoration of the bush walk in the Meeniyan Recreation Reserve with bi-monthly working bees.

We are an enthusiastic group who are making our mark in our local environment. New members are always welcome.
