Newcastle Youth Orchestra (NYO) is a not-for-profit organisation operation in the Hunter Region that provides orchestral education for emerging young performers, between the ages of 10 and 25. Newcastle Youth Orchestra aims to motivate and inspire young people, through a diverse and challenging repertoire of orchestral music. NYO aims to provide the highest quality music education and training in a stimulating and rewarding environment.
NYO has been operational since 2013, and have successfully supported a full concert season program since our inception, as well as growing in membership, recognition and support in the Hunter region. Newcastle Youth Orchestra supports two symphony orchestras, NYO Kids for 10-16 year olds, and NYO for 14-25 year olds. We also participate in a number of community education and engagement initiatives.
Through the administration of a comprehensive music education program, NYO seeks to provide learning and career development opportunities for its' students through engagement with leading musicians, educators and music administration bodies, performance opportunities, and networking and mentoring with like-minded individuals.
NYO also seeks to contribute to and enhance the vibrant cultural life of the city of Newcastle, in maintaining existing and developing new audiences to engage with classical music. NYO is proud of the community connections that have been developed thus far, and is committed to continuing to provide opportunities for the people of the Hunter region to enjoy orchestral music.
We hope that you might consider assisting Newcastle Youth Orchestra in advancing our vision, in supporting the arts and young people in the Hunter region. Every cent counts in helping Newcastle Youth Orchestra to become a vibrant and permanent success story in Newcastle and the Hunter's cultural scene.
