Olivia's Place

Olivia's Place Pregnancy & Early Parenting Resource Centre

Olivia's Place was established in response to a need identified in our community for a holistic service to support and resource expectant and new parents.

Our mission is provide support during pregnancy and the important early parenting period - the first year of a child's life.  We do this through early detection and preventative activities including perinatal depression and anxiety assessment, parenting education, mentoring, referral and liaison with other services and community groups.

Over the past 2.5 years since opening our Centre in Warragul, we have had contact with more than 2,500 people in the Baw Baw Shire.  We have actively supported over 250 families through the provision of many thousands of dollars worth of baby essentials, parenting education and group support sessions, and individual client consultations. Olivia's Place continues to offer professional services which reduce social isolation and link families into essential services.   We are committed to building family friendly communities, and are excited to be in an area that has individuals and businesses so willing to support this vision.

We are in need of regular financial supporters to ensure our ability to support families into the future.

This is where you come in.

It takes a village to raise a family

So….

we are asking you to dig deep to help us in our mission to support local families. Choose to become a regular donor and chip in what you can.

If we are able to reach our goal of 500 people or businesses committed to supporting families through our service with regular monthly donations, we can plan for our future.  This will mean that we can guarantee those people welcoming babies in the next 6-12 months that we WILL be here for them when they support at the time of their baby's birth.

500 people or businesses donating $20 per month provides us with an operational budget of $100,000 per year.  This will mean WE can focus MORE on supporting the families that need help without having to worry about whether we have ENOUGH money to continue to RUN.  This will help US to do our job BETTER because we will have to dedicate LESS TIME to RAISING much needed funds.

What to know how your funds can help?

The following values and items are ways in which your donation may be utilised to support a local family.

  • $10 - A maternity item for mum, a bra or a new top/pants to help her comfortably grow through her pregnancy.
  • $25 - nappies or formula for a new baby.
  • $35 - two linen sets for a new baby's cot or bassinet.  A set of clothing to last until they grow big enough to need the next size up.
  • $40 - A breast pump for mum to continue supplying her infant with much needed breastmilk as they grow.
  • $50 - Baby bottles and steriliser for home use.  A baby carrier which can increasing bonding between a new parent and their baby, and can also reduce social isolation by enabling them to get out and about more easily.
  • $75 - A change table for the home.
  • $100 - A car restraint to ensure that a new baby can be transported safely to appointments, to support services and to social settings.  Without a car restraint, babies are at risk of being transported unsafely OR the parent is at risk of suffering social isolation resulting in an increased risk for perinatal depression.
  • $160 - A brand new cot and mattress for a new baby, providing them with a safe place to sleep.
  • $175 - A new baby bundle, which includes everything a mum needs to welcome their baby at hospital such as a nappy bag, wipes, nappies, breast pads, maternity pads, infant clothing (bibs, hats, singlets, growsuits), cot blanket, wraps/muslins, a soft toy for baby, a baby record book for recording milestons and (of course) a gift for mum to let her know how valued she is.
  • $175 - A single pram.
  • $250 - A double pram for a mum expecting twins, or a family expecting a baby that already has a small child.
