For over 30 years, Women's Health & Wellbeing Services and our sister organisation WA Centre for Perinatal Mental Health & Parenting Support have been there, for women, for children, for families, during some of the most painful and overwhelming moments of their lives. Through economic downturns, a global pandemic, and a mental health crisis that shows no signs of slowing, we have shown up. Day after day, for the people who needed us most.
We support mothers through postnatal depression so severe they cannot get out of bed. We walk alongside children learning to name the feelings that have been scaring them. We hold space for women rebuilding their lives from the ground up after trauma. We support fathers whose silent struggle was invisible to everyone around them. We sit with families who came to us frightened, and watch them leave with something they hadn't expected to find: hope.
This end of financial year, we are launching Open a Door; a campaign to fund counselling sessions for women, children, and families who qualify for support but cannot meet the out-of-pocket gap that stands between them and care.
$50 funds one session. Open the door to a safe room with a qualified, compassionate therapist. For a child who has never had that before. For a mother who has been waiting months. For a family whose trajectory could change in a single conversation.
$100 opens the door for two. $500 changes the lives of ten.
But more than the number, your gift says something that matters deeply to the people we serve: I see you. You are worth showing up for. Because you are reading this, we believe you already know that. We are asking you to show it.
The end of the financial year is approaching and now is the perfect time to make a tax-deductible donation that goes directly to the women, children, and families who need it most. Every dollar is a session. Every session is a person. Every person is a family whose story doesn't have to end the way it was heading.
Someone's waiting. Will you save them a seat? Sometimes, we get to hear what happens next.
"I am more patient, gentler, more understanding and kinder to both those around me, and to myself."
"I feel I RESPOND more to my little girl now, rather than simply REACT. And for those times I do still react, I am less hard on myself and able to repair and reconnect with her."
"In my darkest times, coming here made me feel it was OK to feel the way I was feeling. It gave me a purpose to leave the house every week, even when I didn't want to."
"I used to have panic attacks going to work. Now I have the tools to cope, and I use them in every area of my life."
These words belong to real people women, mothers, fathers, and families who found their way through because someone was there to walk with them.
Right now, someone is waiting for that same chance. And cost is the only thing standing in the way.
The need for our services is growing. More women are presenting in crisis. More children are struggling. More families are falling through the gaps of a system that was never quite built for them. And too many are being turned away, not because we don't want to help, but because the gap between what they can afford and what they need is just $50.
That is where you come in. Thanks in advance, on behalf of our deserving clients, for your contibution to their healing journey!
With deep gratitude,
Women's Health & Wellbeing Services WA Centre for Perinatal Mental Health & Parenting Support
P.S. Donations to WHWS and WACPPS are tax-deductible. The end of financial year is 30/6/2026, please give before then to make your donation count this financial year. Thank you for believing in our work.
