Out For Australia is a charity that provides visible role models, mentors, content and targeted support to aspiring LGBTQIA+ professionals and to strengthen the sense of community among professionals and students.
We run three core community programs, each designed to support and mentor aspiring LGBTQIA+ professionals as they navigate their way through the early stages of their career:
1. Australia’s largest professional LGBTQIA+ mentoring platform
Our mentoring community has over 1,600 participants from all around Australia, and is free for anyone to join. The program pairs tertiary students and young professionals with more established professionals, who meet with their mentee a number of times during the year for career conversations. By equipping young LGBTIQA+ people with information, skills, connections and role models, the program aims to get these young people into the workforce, and also to ensure that they are confident to be their authentic selves when starting their career.
2. Impactful events
Since our inception in 2015, we have hosted almost 200 events nationwide, reaching over 14,000 individuals and engaging 300 unique speakers. Our regular, free events build a sense of community among professionals and students by highlighting role models, tackling key issues related to workplace inclusion, and providing professional development opportunities.
3. Career Academy
The Out for Australia Career Academy supports LGBTQIA+ individuals in their career development. The program connects them with experienced professionals (mentors) who can offer guidance, advice, and support in navigating the workplace, career growth, and personal development.
