Parkinson's A C T Incorporated

Support those in our region living with Parkinson's Disease

$

Parkinson's ACT Inc. is a non-profit, community-based organisation established in 1996 to provide information and support to people in the Australian Capital Territory and surrounding region whose lives are affected by Parkinson's Disease.  Those affected are not just those with Parkinson's Disease but also very much the carers, families and friends.

Parkinson's ACT does not receive any government funding.  We are wholly volunteer-run.  All our activities are funded by memberships, fundraising, and the generous donations of businesses, community organisations, and individuals.

Our available funds enable us to:

  • advocate for the needs of people living with Parkinson's in the ACT and surrounding regions
  • provide information including through seminars and forums
  • foster, develop, and sustain therapeutic activities such as painting, dancing, and singing
  • sustain and expand support groups ranging across the differing needs and experiences of our members
  • provide scholarships for nurses and medical students to deepen their understanding of Parkinson's
  • support education of allied health services such as physiotherapy
  • promote public awareness of Parkinson's through contact, media, and public events such as Walk in the Park
  • participate in the national body Parkinson's Australia, supporting in particular their role in advocacy at the federal level.
