Parkinson's NSW Inc. is a non-profit, community based organisation established in 1979 to provide information, counselling and support to people in NSW living with Parkinson's disease. The organisation also provides funding for research into Parkinson's disease through the Parkinsons Foundation.
Parkinson's NSW Inc. also advocates on behalf of the Parkinson's community and strives to increase community awareness of the disease, and takes a leadership role in representing the Parkinson's community in NSW. We want to do more for people living with Parkinson's and their families.
Our services include:
- InfoLine
The InfoLine is a confidential service offering tailored, accurate, up-to-date information, advice and support to anyone affected by Parkinson's disease (the person diagnosed with Parkinson's, their partners, families, carers and supporters). The service averages 400 calls per month. Callers are given assurance and provided with information, giving the caller the confidence to manage the condition and plan ahead.
Allied health staff and medical practitioners have access to the InfoLine for specialised information to assist in their provision of care for people living with Parkinson's.
- Counselling (free and confidential)
Parkinson's NSW continues to operate the only free, confidential, specialised counselling service in Australia, for people living with Parkinsons' disease.
- Support groups
