At Perth City Farm, we believe one of the most important things we can give children is an understanding of where their food comes from, how it grows, and what it takes to produce food sustainably in Western Australia.
Growing Our Future will help us create a hands-on edible learning garden where children can grow, harvest, taste and learn.
The garden will have a strong focus on bush tucker, food security and growing successfully in WA conditions, helping children explore native edible plants alongside familiar fruits, vegetables and herbs.
It will become a practical outdoor learning resource where children can discover:
We also want to create practical resources and equipment so children can do more than simply look at the garden. They will be able to harvest ingredients, prepare them, taste them and learn how they can be used.
It is about connecting the whole story:
grow it → harvest it → prepare it → taste it → understand it.
Your donation will go twice as far
Perth City Farm is proud to be supported by Jack Johnson’s All At Once campaign and the Johnson Ohana Foundation.
Donations to this campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar until 31 December 2026, up to the campaign matching limit.
That means:
$10 becomes $20
$25 becomes $50
$50 becomes $100
$100 becomes $200
Our first goal is to raise $2,500 from our community, which will unlock the full available match and give us $5,000 to bring Growing Our Future to life.
Funds will help us establish the edible garden and bush tucker plantings, improve water-wise growing systems, purchase child-friendly harvesting and gardening equipment, and develop learning resources that can be used by school groups, families and community programs.
We’re not just growing food.
We’re growing curiosity, practical skills and a better understanding of how our choices connect to the environment around us.
By supporting Growing Our Future, you are helping the next generation understand food, Country, water and sustainability through something wonderfully simple: getting their hands in the soil and growing something themselves.
