Piano Project is a Melbourne-based charity that supports projects that improve access to music education for children. The project we are currently supporting is Pizzicato Effect.
Pizzicato Effect provides free music tuition to children from disadvantaged or recently arrived migrant families. The program offers instrument tuition and musicianship training in violin, viola or cello, to school age children living in or attending school in the City of Hume. Our students receive free tuition and learning materials along with an instrument of their own to use and take home for the duration of their studies with us.
The program operates one afternoon per week from the music classrooms at Gladstone Park Secondary College. The program offers more than just music, we provide a welcoming and inclusive environment that has enabled the development of a friendship network accessible to both our students and their families. Twice a year we hold concerts open to community and our students participate in community events, demonstrating to others in their local region that there is a pathway to realising musical aspirations irrespective of geography or financial circumstances.
