Artists need more than opportunities to present finished work.
They need time to experiment, develop new skills, test ideas, build connections and take creative risks. These experiences are essential to building a sustainable artistic practice and creating the work that audiences ultimately experience.
For artists working in Geelong and the surrounding region, accessing these opportunities can be harder. Compared with larger metropolitan centres, regional artists face fewer professional development opportunities, limited access to resources and networks, and financial and geographic barriers to advancing their practice.
Too often, artists are forced to look elsewhere for the opportunities they need to grow.
We want artists to be able to build their future right here in Geelong.
The Platform Arts Development Fund invests directly in their growth.
How your support helps
Our goal is to raise $10,000, with donations starting from $250.
Your donation is pooled with the contributions of other Development Fund supporters to create professional and creative development opportunities for local artists, including:
/ Workshops + skills development
/ Residencies
/ Mentoring + professional expertise
/ Research + experimentation
/ Equipment access
/ Collaborative programs
Together, this funding creates space for artists to learn, connect, experiment and develop their practice.
As a supporter, you can:
/ Receive invitations to selected experiences connected to the Development Fund.
/ Gain a closer look at the creative and professional development happening behind the scenes.
/ Follow artists’ journeys through exclusive updates, stories and insights.
/ See the impact firsthand as your support creates new opportunities for local artists.
This is your opportunity to champion local artists, invest in their potential and help ensure Geelong remains a place where creative people can build their future.
