About this cause
The Institute's mission is to discover and improve new treatments to help over 4 million Australians who suffer from chronic pain - often trapped in a cycle of pills, inactivity and depression - manage their pain effectively, so that they can resume normal work and family lives. 

PMRI pursues its broad goal of improving human health by:
  • conducting basic and clinical research programs
  • operating a national and international education program and,
  • in collaboration with the Pain Management & Research Centre (PMRC), treating patients with acute pain, cancer pain, and chronic non-cancer pain.
