Why your support matters

We are volunteers doing the work of a full-time organisation because we believe every LGBTQIA+ person deserves to feel seen, safe, and celebrated. When you donate to Newcastle Pride, you are not just giving money. You are helping a young person find their first safe community. You are keeping a volunteer resourced and supported. You are making sure the next school talk happens, the next flag gets raised, the next Youth formal goes ahead.

Newcastle Pride Inc. is the only dedicated LGBTQIA+ organisation serving Newcastle and the Hunter Region. We are an ACNC registered charity, 100% volunteer-run, no paid staff, no corporate backing, no regular income. Just passionate locals who believe this city deserves a world class Pride festival every year, and work their hearts out to make it happen.

But it costs money to make magic and for nine years all of this happens with no guaranteed regular income. 

The Festival

Newcastle Pride is back in October 2026 with this year's theme: Seen, Heard, Celebrated.

Last year, more than 18,000 people joined us at Fair Day, families, allies, and community members coming together for a free, world-class celebration in the heart of our city. This year, we are asking Newcastle to show up for us the way we've always shown up for you. Not just to watch. Not just to wave a flag. But to be the reason it happens.

More than a festival

Our annual festival is a vibrant celebration of visibility and community, but it is just one part of who we are. In between, we:
•       Run corporate talks that help workplaces become safer for LGBTQIA+ employees
•       Stand alongside our transgender community to raise the Trans Day of Visibility flag
•       Run silent discos for IDAHOBIT, and social groups for people who just want to find their people
•       Show up at universities, schools, shopping centres, and community events to educate, celebrate, and advocate
•       Sit in bi-monthly youth interagency meetings because young LGBTQIA+ people deserve to have someone at the table   speaking up for them

Newcastle Pride has demonstrated consistent capacity to deliver complex, multi-event programming on a shoestring budget. Every dollar you donate brings the Newcastle Pride Festival one step closer to lighting up our city in full colour and creating a safe, joyful space and hopefully one day reach our ultimate goal of a office and home for our LGBTIQ+ community to celebrate, connect and belong.

Why we do this
We believe Newcastle should be known not just for its beaches and food, but for its diversity, culture and heart. The Pride Festival is our chance to show the world that our city stands proud, stands together, and welcomes everyone.
By growing this Festival into a major annual event, we’re leaving a legacy for our youth, building community connections, and turning “coming out” into “coming together”.

How you can support us
Making a one off or regular donation is the single most powerful thing you can do to help us keep going. No amount is too small and every dollar goes directly toward building a more inclusive, more compassionate Hunter Region for everyone.
You can also fundraise for us by setting up your own page and inviting the people in your life to give. A birthday fundraiser, a workplace challenge, or simply sharing our story it all makes a real difference to real people in our community.

$10 Helps us stay visible in the community, so LGBTQIA+ people in Newcastle and the Hunter know they are not alone.

$25 Helps us show up at a community event and put Newcastle Pride in the room where it matters.

$100 Could support a safe space zone at the event where people can connect, chill, and feel truly included.

$250 Could help bring a headline performer or celebrated artist to town, shining a spotlight on our city's pride.
