To support a variety of Community Learning activities for children that enhance their personal development, health and well-being. The Pine Rivers Neighbourhood Centre offers a variety of courses and groups that respond to the needs of children in our community. Examples include:
- Kid's Cooking - a program run during the school holidays for 9-11 year olds that teaches children: how to read a recipe; healthy eating and nutrition; meal preparation; and table manners. The group is facilitated by trained volunteers and works as a peer learning environment.
- Kid's Self-esteem - a group that supports children who have low self-esteem and little understanding of their own self-worth. This peer learning environment is facilitated by trained volunteers. At the end of this program children have: an enhanced self-esteem; increased coping skills to deal with their emotions and feelings; strategies to deal with bullying; understanding of their own strengths; and greater confidence and resilience.
How will the funds be used?
