More men now die of prostate cancer than women die of breast cancer. One man dies every 3 hours from prostate cancer in Australia.
It has been perceived in the past to be an 'old man's disease', this is no longer the case with Urologists seeing more men in their forties and fifties now presenting with prostate cancer.
At Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) we continually strive to understand the immediate needs of men and their families dealing with prostate cancer, and provide the support and connection to services to cater for these needs.
We are a broad-based community organisation with three major areas of focus:
Research Program
PCFA funds world leading innovative research into prostate cancer, guided by a clear strategic focus and a set of specific research priorities based on deficits in existing research.
Awareness and Education
PCFA supports and implements awareness and education programs to educate the Australian community and encourage men to be proactive about their prostate health. Early detection is the key to saving lives.
Support
PCFA provides support for men and their families affected by prostate cancer by funding evidence-based information and resources, running a wide support network across Australia, and funding Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurses to provide crucial specialist care.
PCFA relies heavily on the generosity of the Australian community and corporate sponsorship/donation to help fund our vital work.
It doesn't take a lot to help make a difference!
