If you've been to the Rattler, you've enjoyed queer programs, live music, performance, Caberat, dance parties, fundraisers, talks, workshops, book launches. That's what powers the beautiful producers who bring artistic excellence to the Rat. Move Queer, Worship Queer Collective, Queers of Joy, Groove Therapy, Grumblism, LYON, ODDBEAT , Transgenre and all of the above. Our live music program Free The Friday and Live at the Rat, where emerging and established musicians launch albums and new releases.

We want to keep doing all of that. But Marrickville is changing fast. New developments, rising operational costs, and a mortgage that doesn't stop. We need to keep up. Thanks to Sound NSW, we just completed the Red Rattler Revamp and now we're ready to keep bringing you more live activations. 

The Red Rattler is a queer and artist-run creative playground that's ethical, sustainable and community-owned. Not-for-profit, volunteer-driven & affordable. A place where communities build solidarity and create arts, activism and a culture that actually means something.

We've been at this since 2009. Five local queer artists dreamed up a legal warehouse venue that wouldn't be at the mercy of high rents and developers. That dream is now a registered charity with a board of artists, educators, and cultural leaders who are committed to keeping this place safe, inclusive, and absolutely vital.
