When Australia decided to 'stop the boats', a small group of refugees responded by starting a refugee-led education centre in Indonesia. The Cisarua Refugee Learning Centre was an instant success. It has been running for over four years and teaches up to 200 students each week.
Their idea inspired other refugees in Indonesia, and there are now up to 14 schools and 1500 refugees receiving education from around 100 volunteer refugee teachers. Our goal is to continue to support and encourage this refugee-led education revolution in Indonesia.
