About this cause

Ronald McDonald House (RMH) Perth provides a 'home away from home' for families of seriously ill regional children undergoing treatment for cancer and other life threatening illnesses at Princess Margaret Hospital, and since RMH opened in November 1990, more than 3000 families have passed through our doors.

When families have to travel far from home to receive specialized medical care for their sick child, seeking accommodation in an unfamiliar place only adds to their stress and anxiety. Treatments can sometimes take weeks, months or even years and children need their families close by for comfort and reassurance.

How will the funds be used?

The House runs at 100% occupancy each night and we are seeking support to cover not only the basic costs of accommodating our families but also to be able to increase the level of comfort during their stay with us by providing those little extra touches that can make them feel more at home.

Our House is 20 years old and with 18 families staying with us at any one time, it is understandable that our House suffers from a bit of wear and tear. The 6 units where our long-term families often stay are in desperate need of refurbishment. We need YOU to help us to make it more comfortable for these families.

What we will be buying

  • 2 x wall ovens
  • 2 x gas cook tops
  • 6 x microwaves
  • 6 x small dining room tables (including chairs)
  • 6 x cook tops
  • 6 x sofa beds
  • 12 x toilets
  • 18 x shaving cabinets for bathrooms (with mirrored doors)
