Rosie’s Place was initially established as a community based sexual assault counselling service for children, young people, and their non-offending family members. The organisation
has been funded by the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) since 1986, to provide services to families affected by sexual abuse and domestic and family violence.
Rosie's Place was one of the first four Child Sexual Assault Services Programs (CSASP) services established as a result of recommendations made by the NSW Child Sexual Assault Task
Force.
Rosie’s Place is a free service for children, young people and families impacted by violence and abuse. More specifically, both sexual assault and domestic and family violence are the most common forms of violence clients attending our service are subjected to. Rosie’s Place also recognises that children, young people and families deal with complex trauma resulting from both past and current experiences, increasing their vulnerability to not only ongoing safety but also wellbeing.
Children and young people have a right to live in an environment that is free from violence and abuse and a right to access all supports available within their community. Rosie’s Place is committed to working to support children, young people and families to address the impacts of such violence, and advocate for their ongoing safety and protection. Through collaborative work with the community, we seek to improve the supports and relationships that are fundamental to all aspects of empowerment, personal efficacy and the promotion of well-being.
As a small not for profit organisation, we struggle daily with the recent increased amount of referrals to our service. We are constantly working hard to try not to hold a wait list as we believe children and young people should not have to wait for support services. As an registered charity and deductable gift recipient we are always seeking donations and applying for grants to support our work. Any donations received through GiveNow will go directly to our core work of supporting children and young people. We do this work as direct counselling, court support, advocacy, group work, and family work.
