About this cause

Help keep women and children and the pets they love, be safe from family violence.

How would you feel if you were fleeing family violence and you had to leave one of your beloved family members behind?

Due to most crisis care refuges and motels being unable to accommodate pets, that's a heartbreaking choice many women and children have had to face, staying and risking harm themselves, or leaving their cherished pets at the mercy of the perpetrator.

The good news is, you can change this situation and help keep women and children, and the pets they love, safe from family violence.

The Safe Steps Pets in Crisis program assists women to leave situations of abuse safely, feeling confident that their pets will also be out of the home and cared for.

Through the program, pets of women experiencing family violence are temporarily rehomed in suitable animal accommodation until they can be reunited with the women and children who love them most.

A gift from you today will help support women and children affected by family violence while ensuring their pets are secure in temporary homes.

  • $30 will help provide a phone assessment for a woman experiencing family violence whose pet is also at risk.
  • $50 will help bring women and children escaping violence great comfort knowing their beloved pet is also safe and is being cared for in a loving environment.
  • $100 will help with arranging interventions, transport and safe accommodation for women, children and their pets in crisis.
  • $250 will help pay the vet bills of a pet who has been injured due to an incidence of family violence.

No matter the size of your donation, with your help we can continue to take calls from women concerned about the safety of themselves, their children and their pets, assisting with safe accommodation, transport, support and referrals.

Thank you for your support.
