Our First Nations Access Program
Many First Nations people face significant barriers to accessing their Centrelink entitlements. First Nations people are less likely to seek help from mainstream legal services for a number of reasons including not trusting the legal system and not knowing if the legal service will be culturally appropriate and safe for them to access. Therefore, some First Nations People are not receiving their rightful entitlements, this contributes to poverty and disadvantage in First Nations communities.
Your donation will go to our First Nations Access Program, and help us to continue to build resources and a culturally safe community engagement program that includes workshops, resource distribution, and directly supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
Know that you are supporting people who are often desperate and struggling to meet their basic needs, with no where else to turn for help with their problems with Centrelink.

Welfare Rights Centre acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional owners of the land. We recognise their continued custodianship of the land, waters, and seas in which we live and work. We pay our respects to Elders, past and present, and celebrate their unique cultural knowledge.
