To finance the National Youth Council and it's annual meeting of 30 members from around Australia.

How Will These Funds Be Used?


To facilitate the National Meeting of the National Youth Council. The National Youth Council is intended to provide an avenue for youth input into the decision making process of the national organisation to shape its' future direction. It also provides leadership and representational experience for its members and to develop a source of young leaders to direct the future of Scouting.

The National Youth Council is made up of 30 young people, all aged from 13 to 23 at the time of their appointment and are selected from around the nation to represent the broad range of ages and diversity of backgrounds within Scouts Australia. The council represents 35,000 Scouts, Venturer Scouts and Rovers around Australia, while paving the future direction for the other 35,000 Scout members in the younger age group sections.

The National Youth Council provides the opportunity for youth to participate in the decision making process and to shape the future direction of Scouting in so doing it.

  • To advise on the relevance of Youth Program to young people
  • To advise Scouts Australia and agencies outside of Scouting of internal and external issues it should address
  • To provide further youth input into all strategies including membership and marketing
  • To be a sounding board for new initiatives
  • To make recommendations to National committees
  • To build the leadership and teamwork skills development of the young members as a source of young leaders to direct the future of Scouting.

  • Travel, Accommodation and Meals of Youth Council Members
  • Airfares of participants
Meetings Hire of Facilities and Equipment
  • Telephone + Internet Hosting of subcommittees during the year
  • Printing of Promotional Brochures to attract council member applications
Other - NameTags and CD ROM duplication of sessions of annual National Council Meeting
  • Volunteer Commissioners - Travelling Expenses to annual national meeting
