The Shore Things are taking on the ultimate ocean challenge — 24 hours in the water!
What started as a bunch of mates getting together for ocean swims around Coogee has grown into a proper community of people who love the ocean, good company and a challenge.
This November, 20 Shore Things swimmers will come together at Maroubra to take on the Ocean Heroes 24 Hour Swim. From midday Saturday to midday Sunday, there will be at least one Shore Things member in the water at all times — swimming through the day, the night and into the next morning.
We're doing it to raise money for Ocean Heroes, an incredible Australian charity that provides free surf therapy experiences for autistic people and their families, helping participants build confidence and enjoy the ocean in a safe, supportive and fun environment.
For us, it's about more than swimming 24 hours. It's about bringing our community together, pushing ourselves well outside our comfort zones and raising as much money as we can for a cause that gets more people into the ocean.
There'll be tired swimmers, questionable relay tactics, plenty of coffee — and hopefully a lot of money raised along the way.
Every donation, big or small, helps.
20 swimmers. 24 hours. One Shore Things team. One very good cause
