Every month, more than 300 local families turn to the Community Food Fund for help putting food on the table. Rising living costs, family violence, housing insecurity, illness, and unexpected financial hardship leave many people struggling to afford even the basics.
Sue is one of them.
After escaping domestic violence with her two children, Sue was successfully relocated to social housing. While she finally had a safe place to call home, the cost of starting over left little money for food and household essentials. Through the Community Food Fund, we provided a start-up pack of food and household goods to help her settle in. Today, Sue attends our monthly Social Supermarket events, where she collects fresh produce and pantry staples, and we continue to support her with weekly check-ins and additional food assistance when needed.
Because food is no longer a constant worry, Sue has been able to direct her limited income towards other essentials. For the first time in two years, her children were able to join their school excursion alongside their classmates.
It costs just $100 to support Sue's family with food and essential household items for an entire month. Every donation, no matter the size, is transformed into real meals on local tables, fresh produce in family kitchens, and practical support for people rebuilding their lives.
Will you help? Your gift makes an immediate difference.
