Friends of Sole Parents Inc was born of a passion to help sole parent families such as Christine's following the closure of a 40 year old Sydney service in 2012. Friends of Sole Parents Inc is a group of committed professionals, most of whom who have experienced sole parenthood themselves. We provide support, resources and reconnect families within the community.
Sole parents are not a new phenomenon, but numbers increasing and the face of sole parenthood is changing. You probably know at least one amongst your friends, colleagues or family. The reality is that in Australia:
$25 will help fund afternoon tea to reduce isolation.
$50 will fund an art and craft session.
$100 will fund childminding so parents can devote some time to self care, learning new skills such as managing stress, money management, redoing their CV.
$ 500 will fund two workshops by an expert facilitator in a relevant field: parenting, job search, self care, and education & training options.
