This August, Soup Kitchen at Station Road brings together leading chefs, hospitality venues and the Adelaide community for a series of special fundraising events supporting children in need across South Australia.
The Soup Kitchen concept was originally created at East End Cellars by Margie and Michael Andrewartha in collaboration with Simon Bryant, and has become a much-loved annual initiative where hospitality and community come together to make a meaningful difference.
Across four Thursdays in August, guest chefs will join Station Road to create a rotating menu of soups, with 100% of proceeds from sales supporting charity partners – including Backpacks 4 SA Kids.
Funds raised will go towards Backpacks 4 SA Kids, supporting children in South Australia facing homelessness, escaping domestic violence or experiencing crisis.
Each backpack provides age-appropriate emergency clothing, toiletries, essential supplies and comfort items for children aged 0–18 who have been displaced from home, helping restore a sense of hope and stability at a time when everything else has been taken away.
These packs offer immediate relief and a tangible reminder that they are not alone.
Every donation, large or small, directly contributes to practical, life-changing support for children experiencing hardship – helping ensure they feel safe, cared for and supported during some of their most vulnerable moments.
Together, the hospitality industry and the wider community are turning generosity into meaningful impact for children who need it most.
