Southern Peninsula Community Support Inc.

SPCS General Appeal

Southern Peninsula Community Support is committed to meeting the needs of our community and supporting those who are vulnerable and isolated.  Our skilled, trained volunteers work closely with people using a dual approach.  We work out what we can do to provide immediate help, things such as getting food on the table, keeping the roof over people's heads and assisting with transport, pharmacy or education costs, then we look at the longer term issues such as mental health, ongoing financial stress, energy use and household costs, family violence, issues around disability and ageing, and specialised supports for those experiencing homelessness.  We will link people up to the help we need, whether it is a referral to our own expert case workers or to a specialist service in the community.

Many of the people we see are extremely isolated and distressed when they come to see us.  Many people are at the lowest point of their lives.  And for many people it's incredibly difficult to reach out and ask for help.  Through listening and caring we build trust and connection, as well as through providing those immediate and longer-term practical supports to help decrease the everyday stress people are experiencing they begin to feel empowered and to develop the confidence to take control.  Through the help of our amazing community we change lives.
