50,000 Queenslanders currently live with an intellectual disability. 2,000 of these individuals participate in sport with Special Olympics Queensland. Of these athletes, 203 will represent Queensland at the 2014 Special Olympics Australia National Games.
What do we do?
We provide year round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with an intellectual disability.
We provide them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
How can you help?

- $200 pays for the cost of an athlete to attend Queensland training camp
- $500 covers the cost of an athlete's airfares to the Games
- $600 pays for an athlete's full Team Queensland National Games uniform
- $1000 covers the cost of an athlete's accommodation at the Games
- $3500 pays for an athlete's full levy to compete in the Games
