Specific Learning Difficulties (SPELD) NSW

Dyslexia and learning difficulties support appeal

Did you know that in each and every classroom throughout Australia there are students with both learning difficulties, and learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, ADHD etc who are struggling to achieve at an acceptable level. It is estimated that the number of students with learning disabilities is between three and five percent of the total student population.

Specific Learning Difficulties (SPELD) NSW

Who we are:

SPELD NSW, a not-for-profit organisation, committed to ensuring that children and adults have every opportunity to achieve their full potential. We have been providing advice and services to those with learning difficulties and to those who teach, work and care for them for 47 years.

How will the funds be used?

SPELD NSW will continue giving more services to parents/carers. We do this through our Referral Service. Our qualified Referral Officers receive over 1200 calls per year from anxious parents/carers and adults. We are able to give advice and support on a one on one basis. All this is free of charge.

We also maintain a register of qualified specialist teachers who can provide individual tutoring.

At our premises we run, at a minimal cost, parent workshops.
