About this cause

The Portland Re-Engagement Program is a specialised campus of Portland Secondary College that supports young people who have disengaged, or are at real risk of disengaging from mainstream education.

Students come from a wide mix of backgrounds, but share one thing: a genuine desire to build a better future.
The program helps them reconnect with learning, strengthen their sense of purpose, and take the next step into further education, training, or employment so they can contribute positively to their community.

Based in South Portland, the centre offers a warm, homely environment with small class sizes that allow students and teachers to build strong, supportive relationships, the foundation for social and academic growth.

These small classes and tailored support are what make the program so effective, but they also mean it operates at a higher cost than mainstream models.
Currently, funding comes from Portland Secondary College and charitable donations, making the program’s continuation a year-to-year proposition unless a more sustainable source of support is secured.

How you can help
Businesses, families and individuals are invited to sponsor a student for $2,000 per year.
Partial sponsorships are also warmly welcomed.
