About Stars Foundation

Stars Foundation’s mission is to support and enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and young women to make active choices towards realising their full potential in all aspects of their development and wellbeing.

Our purpose is to improve education and health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young women.

The Stars Model based on the best available evidence and years of experience and is specifically tailored to address the needs of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. We are now seeing some outstanding outcomes across our programs.

School attendance rates, completion of Year 12 and a successful transition into sustainable employment or further study are some key measures of the impact of the Stars program.

In 2017, we Closed the Gap on all three measures:

  • 39 per cent increase in attendance across our programs (55 per cent increase in remote areas)
  • 96 per cent of our students completed Year 12
  • 90 per cent of our 2016 graduates had maintained employment or further study at the end of 2017

How You Can Help

Your generosity will help Stars continue to provide high quality, evidence-based mentoring programs to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls.

When you support Stars Foundation, you can be assured that 93 per cent of our overall funding is spent directly on the girls we support, with only 7 per cent spent on administration. The cost of raising money and managing grant funding as a percentage of our overall funding for 2017 was just 4 per cent.

Your generous support will help Stars to Close the Gap in Australia, enabling the successful completion of school for young Aboriginal women and transitions to life beyond, with education providing far greater opportunities than they would otherwise have had.
