State Schools' Relief

State Schools' Relief General Appeal

State Schools’ Relief is a not-for-profit organisation that supports the needs of underprivileged Victorian government school students by assisting them with new school uniforms, footwear and educational resources during times of vulnerability.

State Schools' Relief provides a free service without drawing attention to the students that receive help. Many students do not know they are receiving charity. The anonymity we provide acts in the best interests of students.

We support 60,000+ Victorian students each year by removing barriers to their participation in school (no uniform, no school) and supporting their success in education. Participation in education is the main way out of poverty and this pathway must remain open to every child.

How will the funds be used?

Donations from companies, individuals, foundations and schools fund the cost of the footwear and clothing; since 1930 successive governments have funded the administration costs, accommodation and salaries. This allows 100% of donations to impact positively on a child's life.

Key Areas of Expenditure

  • Purchase of stock (footwear and clothing)
  • Authorisations for students (parents/schools) to purchase footwear or clothing from the school shop or commercial outlet
  • Courier costs for deliveries throughout Victoria
