Steps & Holes is building a community to help us become a vital and cherished creative voice. Your contribution will support our 2026 program of physically dynamic, intellectually rigorous, visually arresting theatre and ensure the company’s unique presence in the Australian arts landscape.
The repertoire of Steps & Holes centres around the unique and powerful vision of director, performer and writer Kate Walder. An award-winning theatre-maker working at the intersection of movement, text, music, puppetry and visual imagery, Kate’s exciting, dynamic work attracts broad audiences of all ages by combining intimacy with a sense of the epic. Steps & Holes explores timeless and universal themes and believes in the ability of art to mend the social fabric of society.
In 2026, our new work PILGRIM will premiere in the Adelaide Fringe, ahead of a 2027 Sydney season. We will also progress several works in our artistic pipeline to the next stage. Our Creative Learning programs will continue to run, including school workshops, intensives and our Emerging Artist Program in partnership with Legs On The Wall and the Australian Theatre for Young People.
There's a hunger in the community for an alternative to traditional offerings—a new artistic home built on innovation, excellence, and a shared philosophical framework. Your contribution is more than just a donation; it’s an opportunity to light the flame for a courageous artistic force, determined to challenge the status quo and inspire audiences with robust ideas, that ignite our imaginative spirit and awaken our humanity.
