St Mary's College for the Deaf

St Mary’s College for the Deaf has a strong commitment to ensuring any deaf or hard of hearing child in need of specialist support can access an education regardless of social difficulties or financial capacity to contribute. To enable this mission, St Mary’s College is a registered Public Benevolent Institution.

St Mary’s College pursues the following general charitable purposes:
• Individualised specialist programs designed to build communication in deaf and hard of hearing children
• Provision of technology into classrooms to enable access to spoken language for deaf and hard of hearing children
• Social and emotional support services to deaf and hard of hearing children designed to build friendships and positive mental health
• Provision of books, resources and uniforms to families experiencing significant hardship

Equity Scholarships
Through our Equity scholarship program, we aim to provide opportunities to students with a significant hearing loss who would otherwise not be able to receive a specialist Catholic education. Students with a moderate to profound bilateral hearing loss and either enduring financial hardship, are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people or of refugee background are eligible for financial assistance through the generosity of donations and bequests.
