Strengthening CFMF for the Future

About this cause

CFMF is growing—and so is the need for dedicated leadership to support that growth.

Our CEO, Dan Foster, is currently employed for only 16 hours each week. Within those limited paid hours, Dan provides leadership across almost every area of CFMF. He helps organise and facilitate The Gathering, Forged, Reforged and MROP; conducts Circle Facilitator Training; supports our national network of Men’s Circles, affiliated counsellors and volunteers; develops corporate relationships and workshops; and produces CFMF’s social media, blogs and podcasts.

The reality is that the role already requires considerably more than 16 hours. Dan regularly contributes additional unpaid time to ensure programs are delivered, volunteers are supported and opportunities are not lost. This has helped CFMF achieve an enormous amount, but it is not a sustainable long-term model.

Demand for CFMF’s work is also increasing. Following the launch of our new website, we received 78 Men’s Circle enquiries in just three months. Our volunteer Circle leaders do a wonderful job responding, but we need greater capacity to personally follow up enquiries, help more men take the step from enquiry to attendance, recruit and train additional facilitators and establish more Circles in areas of need.

An independent fundraising review by Be Bold Fundraising also identified significant opportunities for CFMF to build relationships with corporations, RSL clubs and other organisations that share our concern for men and families. Developing these relationships takes time—time for meetings, visits, networking, proposals and consistent follow-up.

Our goal is to progressively increase Dan’s paid CEO hours during 2027, ultimately enabling him to work full-time for CFMF.

Additional CEO capacity will allow CFMF to:

** Strengthen and expand our national Men’s Circle network.
** Recruit, train and support more volunteer facilitators.
** Personally follow up men who reach out for connection.
** Strengthen support for our volunteers and affiliated counsellors.
** Develop corporate partnerships and RSL relationships.
** Grow our corporate workshop program.
** Improve fundraising and build more sustainable income.
** Protect and strengthen CFMF’s existing programs.
** Reduce reliance on unpaid staff hours.
** Build stronger systems for CFMF’s long-term future.

This campaign is not simply about funding a wage. It is about investing in the leadership capacity behind CFMF’s programs, volunteers and support pathways.

Every contribution will help us move closer to a sustainably funded, full-time CEO position—and give CFMF greater capacity to reach men when they need connection, belonging and support.

By strengthening CFMF’s leadership today, you are helping us build a stronger future for men, their families and their communities.
