Stroke is one of Australia's biggest killers and a leading cause of disability. It kills more women than breast cancer and more men than prostate cancer. With your support the Stroke Foundation will partner with the community to raise the awareness and work to prevent, treat and beat stroke.
With your support, the Stroke Foundation will continue to run free community health checks to identify Australians at risk of stroke. In the past two years alone, we have provided more than 400,000 free health checks, with almost 100,000 people being referred to health professionals. Thousands of lives have been saved.
As soon as a stroke attacks your brain, parts of it start to die - at a rate of 1.9 million brain cells a minute. Survival and recovery depends on fast access to treatment. As a result of the Stroke Foundation's FAST campaign, 87 percent of Australians have learned to recognise at least one sign of stroke and 000 emergency calls for stroke have increased by over 10 percent. With your support, we can continue to spread the word and save lives.
The Stroke Foundation is a national charity that partners with the community to prevent, treat and beat stroke. We stand alongside stroke survivors and their families, healthcare professionals and researchers. We build community awareness and foster new thinking and innovative treatments. We support survivors on their journey to live the best possible life after stroke. We are the voice of stroke in Australia and we work to:

Stroke Foundation respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners and Custodians of Country throughout Australia, whose sovereignty was never ceded, and acknowledges their continuing connection to land, water, sky and community. We pay our respect to the peoples, cultures, and Elders past, present and emerging, for they hold the memories, culture and hope of their peoples.
