About this cause

Since 2002, Force Majeure has been creating visceral, genre-defying movement based theatre.

With B*Boy and choreographer, Nick Power, now at the helm as Artistic Director, Force Majeure enters a thrilling new era.

Building on the company’s long history of devising and artist-led collaboration to create contemporary performance, Force Majeure productions will now centre hip hop and street-dance styles with engaged community practice.

With home bases in Newcastle and Sydney and strong relationships in the Pacific through ongoing projects in Vanuatu and New Caledonia, Force Majeure will continue its legacy of creating powerful contemporary performance works for the world stage, and mentoring the next generation of dancers and makers.

BE PART OF THE NEW ERA
With Nick Power as Artistic Director, Force Majeure becomes the first established Australian dance theatre company to be led by a dedicated hip hop artist: a landmark moment for the Australian arts landscape.

Around the world, companies in cities like Paris, New York and London have demonstrated the power and global appetite for hip hop dance theatre. Australia has the artists, the communities and the stories. Now, for the first time, there is a major platform committed to championing them at this level.

You can be a part of creating a future where world-class hip hop contemporary performance is created, developed and seen here in Australia and shared with audiences around the world.
