About this cause

Are you uplifted by the sound of united voices?

Do you care about having an exceptional choir delivering authentic programs on your doorstep?

Do you want the world to recognise Western Sydney as the cultural changemaker we know it is?

Then don’t let Western Sydney’s flagship choir, River City Voices, be silenced!

Help keep our united voices and distinctive programs of excellence going.

Your support is urgently needed. With the recent changes to Create NSW’s funding programs, in particular the abolishment of annual grants, River City Voices is now among the 45 small organisations that have had their core funding completely cut. In real terms, we’ve gone from $140,000 for 2025 to ZERO in 2026. And that puts our future programs, and even our existence, at serious risk.

We need to raise $30,000 to ensure sufficient reserves to continue to deliver an outstanding program of concerts which champions local Australian talent at the standard of excellence that our audiences and supporters have come to expect and express:

"Local talent performing at a global standard in our own city."

An emotionally overwhelming experience – such beauty, such power, tenderness and love. River City Voices continues its epic contribution to the cultural life of Parramatta and western Sydney.

But it’s not just the excellence of our programs. River City Voices is an important collaborator and collective that enriches our community, through professionally engaging hundreds of arts workers, artists, orchestras, ensembles, soloists, composers and next-generation artists to coordinate, deliver, create and perform in our standout programs. And, since 2019, has entertained over 38,000 people!

Our choir also touches people on a very personal level...

Tim* has found a sense of purpose and acceptance he has not found anywhere else…a sense of responsibility and commitment to a programme that truly recognises he has skills and abilities that are appreciated, giving him a valued role and helping him develop and grow confidence. He structures his whole week and year around choir. It is the main component of his NDIS plan meeting his goals, way beyond any expectations we ever dared to dream. River City Voices is a model for any organisation seeking excellence and inclusivity at the same time.”   *not his real name

Since 2019, River City Voices has become a leading choir built on a platform that values diversity, inclusivity and accessibility to the Arts for all.

Here are just a few of River City Voices’ many outstanding achievements supported directly by people like you through campaigns like these:

  • During two years of COVID restrictions and lockdowns, and when we were only one year old, we inspired choristers and audiences with virtual rehearsals, video performances and workshops. Listen to Sure on This Shining Night
  • We did a live performance and album launch showcasing new arrangements of songs written and performed by neurodivergent musicians, so unique it appeared on the ABC’s Arts Works program. Watch the Open Rehearsal at Commbank Stadium
  • We commissioned and performed new works and song arrangements from seven First Nations composers and songwriters with world premiere performances. Listen to Gavi Duncan’s Naiyee Nayawa
  • We gave the 2025 Australian premiere performance of a stunningly beautiful choral work - Stabat Mater -  by living Brazilian composer Amaral Vieira. Enjoy our live premiere performance!
  • We joined forces with young Slam poets in 2022 (and will do so again this December) to pen and perform six new poems alongside our stellar choir and musicians performing a mini-Messiah. Hallelujah indeed!

Your urgent support is needed to ensure we can continue to do more great work like this to build the world we all want.

The time is now. Will you respond to our SOS and Support Our Singers?

With your contribution, we can deliver an outstanding program in 2026 which includes the much-requested Fauré Requiem alongside superb choral works by young Australian composers with exceptional talent, plus support the artists and arts workers needed to deliver it!

Please don’t let River City Voices be silenced.
