Synergy & Taikoz Personal Donations Campaign

COVID-19 Update to Supporters:

Dear Valued Supporter,

Hello and best wishes from all of us in Synergy & Taikoz. Words are inadequate, so what can we say except that the challenges facing everyone in our community are enormous – physically, financially, mentally and spiritually. And while we in the arts sector don't consider ourselves any more special or valuable than anyone else (think of our incredible health workers!), the effects of this dreadful virus have bitten hard and early.

The result is that our usual income streams have come to a sudden halt. While funding received through Create NSW is thankfully still in place, it will not carry us through this period of disruption. There is a small amount of government support through Jobkeeper available to us, however, we also dearly need your assistance to support our players and art as best as we can.

We are a lean, well-run and agile company and so, faced with this challenging situation we are able to administratively ‘hibernate’ by budgeting accordingly and redirecting our efforts to our digital classes and online engagement.

We need your support to carry us through.  Whatever you are able to afford will be much appreciated.

Your much-valued financial assistance will help see us through these truly difficult and challenging times. Thank you, as always, from all of us at Synergy and Taikoz. We wish you all good health and happiness.

Ian and the Team

Be part of the excitement

Synergy Percussion and Taikoz are two of the most unique and world-renowned ensembles at the forefront of contemporary percussion music.

Artistic Directors of Synergy and Taikoz, Ian Cleworth, is an exemplary musician and inspiring leader, and our team of percussionists and taiko players evince the most vital qualities of the very best music making: skill, integrity, passion and dedication.

In 2016 Synergy & Taikoz Ltd premiered 42 new commissioned works (36 by Australian Composers, produced 543 events (concerts, school shows, workshops and community classes) attended by 59,710 people (audiences and community participants). Our online and social media exposure was over 2 million and we did major performances in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Bathurst, Tamworth, Port Macquarie, Chennai, VIZAG, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Seoul.

Our school shows included touring to South East Queensland, Regional NSW and metropolitan Sydney. For the eighth year running we partnered Moorambilla Voices in their hugely successful and much needed program assisting the youth of Western NSW to have access to music education provided by highly skilled music educators.

This year Taikoz have already performed three sell out shows (Melbourne, Bowral and Sydney), both ensembles are developing educational modules for the NSW Education Department Arts Unit and the second half of the year will bring Taikoz’s 20th birthday concert at the City Recital Hall on the 21st of October and Synergy Percussion will perform at the Darling Quarter Theatre in Dec.

Producing our extensive program requires a range of support and we ask you as one of our fantastic supporters, to not only continue to support our great ensembles and activities but to help us by championing our work to your friends and associates.

Our history is long and we ask you to please help us continue to create great Australian Music and champion great Australian Composers.

Your assistance will help us repair and maintain our instruments, enable us to develop new talent for the ensembles, provide much needed rehearsal facilities for the ensembles and most importantly present our yearly concert programs, school shows and community classes.

All donations over $5,000 will be acknowledged as a Commissioning Circle member and all donations over $500 will be acknowledged as an Inner Beat Circle member. This ensures you are the first to hear about the artistic direction and vision, receive briefings on the ensembles, be invited to private performances and enjoy opportunities to meet with the artists.
