This Christmas give our young people the best gift of all hope.
Christmas is meant to be a time of celebration. And of hope for the future. Sadly, not all young people have families to celebrate with. And many feel they have no hope.
Young people like Jack who throughout childhood, witnessed his parents' toxic relationship and extremely bitter, prolonged divorce. At 12 years of age he began to use drugs, developed obstructive and damaging behaviours, and was expelled from school by age 14. His estranged parents were unwilling to have him in their homes so Taldumande was called upon to assist. Jack’s Case Manager developed a comprehensive Family Support Plan and guided him into an alternative school, working closely with teachers and staff. Jack was supported to seek specialist help for his drug and alcohol misuse, re-engage with physical training, and provided with respite accommodation at our comfortable and homely Under 16’s Refuge.
Intensive daily support was provided to Jack to rebuild the relationship with his mother and stepfather. In time he also reconnected with his father and brothers with positive results.
Now 16, Jack is soon to embark on a life changing overseas trip with his school. He is focused on education and employment and has overcome the major conflicts in his family relationships. His mother says, “Finally I have my boy back.”
Taldumande has given Jack hope. And every day, every week, Taldumande is giving other young people like Jack a new start in life.
