The Candlelight Gift raises funds to help support families who are caring for a sick child in hospital. We work closely with the hospital to determine where the biggest need is.

Currently we are supporting the Child Life Therapy department who seek to alleviate the fears and anxities of children and their parents prior to or during a procedure or operation. They do this by simulating the sounds involved in the procedure, distracting a child with games during an echocardiogram, stepping a parent through the surgery process, etc. Removing these fears and anxieites reduces stress in the child which studies have shown will reduce recovery times leading to families being together at home sooner.

In the past we have also supported such projects as the development of an information pack for newly dignosed cancer patients and the purchase of 8 replacement parent sofa-beds allowing parents to sleep alongside their child on the ward.

A tax deductible receipt will be provided for funds passed through to the hospital.
