Theodora’s Cheerful Givers is an independent not-for-profit charity that focuses on providing free emergency food relief for families and individuals in the community who are enduring financial hardship.
The charity was first registered in the Latrobe Valley in 1995 and in 2000 it extended its operations to Frankston, Casey and the Mornington Peninsula.
Theodora’s Cheerful Givers operates a Foodbank at 35 Wilkan Drive, Hazelwood North - and a Drop-in Foodbank at 1/12 Govan Street, Seaford, which is open between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm Monday to Friday (except public holidays].
Currently, approx. 1,800 pre-cooked frozen meals are prepared and 400 food-hampers are distributed into local communities - each week.
During the COVID-19 crisis, emergency food relief is being delivered directly to people’s homes via volunteer drivers.
In normal times (without COVID-19 isolation restrictions) free nutritious café-style meals are also served at the Seaford Foodbank on Mondays and Thursdays from 12.00 pm to 1.00 pm. All people are welcome.
The entire Theodora’s Cheerful Givers operation runs on the efforts of a team of dedicated volunteers.
It is a devastating aspect of the COVID-19 restrictions, that all of Theodora's regular fund-raising activities have been closed-down and donations from local businesses have also ceased. The loss of these revenue sources is placing enormous financial strain on Theodora's operations and abilities to maintain these levels of support during the COVID-19 crisis.
Donations from the community are essential for Theodora's service to continue - now and into the future.
Our sincerest thanks for your kind donation - your support encourages us to continue to help families and individuasl in need.
